All of the tests performed during acceptance testing and commissioning can be performed during planned maintenance testing over the lifetime of the asset. The major difference between acceptance testing and maintenance testing is that during maintenance testing you are not looking at the results strictly against pass or fail criteria. A good maintenance program will compare the test results against previous test results in order to identify the very beginning of problems. This allows for scheduled repairs with minimal down time and minimal impact to the overall production. The value of this method, in comparison with waiting for a failure, and having a portion of your system down until replacement parts can be procured, is invaluable.
